We grieve with our colleagues at Hebrew University over Wednesday’s tragic events. Such a horrendous assault on the members of an academic community constitutes a deep affront to the community of students and scholars worldwide. Universities are our beacons of learning, civilization, and freedom. This week’s violence warrants condemnation by all of us who value the ideals of an academic community and the lives of those who dedicate themselves to greater human understanding.
